Kona was labeled as a wolf and scheduled for destruction in Nebraska. We all know by looking at his photo that he’s not a wolf, but rather a wolf-dog. LARC had an ongoing dialogue with the Nebraska vet who insisted on notifying Fish and Game and making Kona’s rescue much more difficult. Just when it looked like Kona would be lost because of the mountain of paperwork, LARC managed to get a photo of him to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Once he was phenotyped by the CDFW, Kona’s transfer became a lot easier, and thanks to a long-time supporter named Yolande, Kona found a forever home at LARC.
