Visiting and Volunteering
Lockwood Animal Rescue Center is NOT open to the general public for tours or visits, for the safety of the animals in our care as well as to respect their privacy, that of our veterans, as well as that of our neighbors. For information on ways you can support our animals and veterans, click here.
Serenity Park Sanctuary (Parrot C.A.R.E.) is open to veterans and their families, and on a limited basis for pre-arranged tours for the general public, please see below.
1. Visiting Options for Serenity Park Parrot Sanctuary
The sanctuary at Serenity Park has limited visiting options for the following reasons: for the safety of the animals in our care, to limit disruptions in the veterans’ schedules, and to respect the privacy of the VA Healthcare Center.
However, during regular hours of operation, Monday through Friday 9:00 am-1:00 pm, we are always open to veterans with their VA ID. (Remember to bring your VA ID!) Friends and family of veterans are also welcome when accompanied with a veteran with his or her VA ID.
Tours at Serenity Park are available for the general public with advance notice and a suggested donation made via PayPal prior to the day of the tour. The suggested donation amount is $100 for 1-4 people and $150 for 5-8 people. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a tour with more than 8 people as this requires additional staff. Please fill out the following form for a tour. No same day tours are permitted.
Every year on November 11th, we host a Veterans’ Day extravaganza at Serenity Park in Los Angeles where we feed thousands of veterans and provide gift giveaways through Operation Gratitude. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and cook the food, to serve the veterans, and to sort and package the donation items for our gift giveaways. The event is always held on November 11, regardless of the day of the week. We prefer people make a minimum 6-hour commitment. If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the following form no more than 60 days in advance of Veterans’ Day.
